Artist statement

Since middle school Lovesquadra has been a way to metaphorically deal with my issues through art. Many people in my family have multiple personalities and I’ve created community of characters from different worlds that can call upon each other to help them with an issue that they specialize in. Outside of my family I’ve had the honor of knowing, meeting, and keeping the admiration and affection some people. Bison city is a parallel universe to Buffalo. Where the labyrinth provides but at what cost? For the price of valued token, would you become a mechanism of the labyrinth? Have you already become one of Deprivas cogs of depravity? If you’re here reading this, it’s unlikely.

What’s lovesquadra?

Since middle school Lovesquadra has been a way to metaphorically deal with my issues through art. Bison city Mood board my black border bend: During the fall-winter of 2024 while three grandparents and my dog pasted away and I watched as the world begin to become more cartoonishly evil, I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. After a couple of months of allowing my new medication to settle, I have witness the distant islands of knowledge become one continent of skills. My family also suffers from many of the same traits. Many in my family have never been good at acknowledging my art and it’s always hurt because it’s my main form and my easiest way of communication. Despite all that one thing they have been great at saving all of my artwork. This piece was started back when I was in eighth grade at performing arts, fostered at nysssa, traveling all the way to college at the fashion institute of technology, brought all the way back home to Transform Station where I finished by being fueled and funded by Re:fringe/bard’s collective, and brought here to HUNT continuing to bring inspiration to my work.

Ebony Witch is a self inserted character. Many of the people in my family are magic. And the next generation of babies seem brighter. Ebony Witch is an imperfect teacher. He didn’t start off great, every gift has come with a curse, and his time to shine isn’t what’s important to the plot. He’s a witch who forged himself through a crystal so that he was able to fulfill 7 separate fate. The narrative starts with pepper already being murdered after successfully fulfilling a prophecy that grants anyone the ability to defeat the machinations of Depravia and easier accessibility to escape the labyrinth . Inspired by a cousin who got murdered. I think he would have been a better man than me because I believe anyone after me will be. Blue Berry is introduced into the story after fulfilling the prophecy of convincing all of his friends to join him on his quest to change the world and returning home ending his heroes journey until he meets Weaver.

Pink Hazard the hue knight. He fell in and out of love with a person that provided tools and knowledge to liberate themselves from cosmic entities and teach others to also awaken. before his eyes, he saw his cause manifest into physical form (Muse). The Hue Knights and their Muse resisted the Causalors, defeated two seamstress the pillars of the Loom Walls( manufacturedDestinies) at the cost of Muse De-Ascending and giving the remaining Hue Knights her sparks of change. Almost all alone on the coast of the star ocean, a witch found the captain floating in his ship. Pink doesn’t know how to start a new. So instead the witch is going to make him something that will give him that ability and in return pink hazard will provide will continue Muse’s cause.

I’ve been an artist for 26 years. I’ve been in Illustrator for 15. My grandmother was the second woman in ITF(the real combat art) Tae-Kwon-Do to become a 9th degree black belt, first to compete and place in lightweight men’s sparring, self-defense, and Tul, first Puerto Rican Muslim woman to own her own school Royal Tae-Kwon-Do Academy and successfully passed down self-defense techniques used by hundreds of students today. My mother has worked with non for profits organization food panties during these trying times for her workers while using her and my sisters bring their amazing voices, dance and leadership becoming pillars in El Batey. I have aunts whose professions spam from head nurse, social working , housing counselors making sure people have homes and that people are fed. I have many sisters. A teenage triple threat (dancer, singer and actor), an artist animator/musician, a child development specialist and a fem presenting non binary sibling who is a stunt actor, prized writer and director who inspired most of drive to be creative. Men are very bad at writing feminine, presenting characters, it’s taking me a while to write one that I feel proud of. Honoring the women in my life is extremely important. I come from two family of matriarchies that have patriarchal fundamentals and have always wanted this aspect of my story to weed out those last remnants of that structured that’s no longer needed. Kween Kaboom is my most recent character and my first Fem character. Like all the women in my life she has an unbreakable will and so long she steps foot in ring she will not loose.
